She went on to earn a Bachelor of Education from Western University and is currently a member of the OCT, teaching at the Elementary level for BHNCDSB. Alahna is one of the founding members of Steel-Hers Cheerleading and has been an active member of the organization since 2009. She went on to coach for and run the organization from 2015-2019. It was through this experience with Steel-Hers Cheerleading that she went on to create Steel City Dance Company, established in 2020. Teaching is one of her greatest passions in life and, as a result, she strives to create the most inclusive, encouraging, and welcoming environment for all Hamilton youth. When she is not at school or at the studio, you can find her traveling or watching Netflix documentaries!
Megan has been a part of the SCDC/Steel-Hers Cheerleading family since 2016, starting out as a member of the Varsity team. She has been participating in dance and Winter Guard for 15 years and still performs today. Winter Guard involves spinning flags, rifles, sabres and dancing to music, which makes her an asset to our Cheerleading organization as she helps students develop their performance skills. The various styles she has explored throughout her Winter Guard and dance career include Contemporary, Modern, Lyrical, Jazz, and Ballet. Megan is highly skilled in her ability to make dance and cheerleading accessible to all types of learners. As an Educational Assistant for HWCDSB, she brings her knowledge and understanding of inclusion, differentiation and children with exceptionalities into each class she teaches. When you don’t see her at the studio, you can find her showing off her artsy side by painting and playing ukulele, or at home, watching Harry Potter.
